Many of you may know Chef Maggie, owner of Chef Maggie’s Foodfest cooking school. She has taught many kids in the neighborhood, including my own, to cook with confidence. I recently met up with Chef Maggie to discuss her latest venture, a new online cooking school for kids. You can watch our Facebook Live interview below, and keep reading for more info.

The new online platform is an annual subscription that includes monthly, easy-to-follow recipes developed specifically for kids of all ages. Recipes are presented with step-by-step instructions using graphics, images, and videos that allow your kiddo to work at their own pace. Printable shopping lists with photos make it easy for kids to find ingredients at the grocery store. Here’s a little more info from Chef Maggie:

“I have been teaching cooking classes to hundreds of Stapleton kids for over 4 years. About two years ago I started working with a web developer to come up with an online cooking class format that kids can do at their own pace with minimal parental supervision. Much like my hands-on classes my online classes strive to teach kids that taking time to make meals from scratch will pay off with a lifetime of healthy eating. If we want to grow healthy eaters that become adults who make healthy choices we must put the power in their hands. Educated consumers make for smart consumers. Understanding ingredients and cooking processes leads to creativity and taking risks in the kitchen which in turn directly and positively impacts a child’s self-confidence.”

“Through this online cooking platform kids will get an ever-growing virtual cookbook! Monthly subscribers will receive an email alert letting them know a new lesson is waiting for them. My goal is to have feedback from my users telling me the types of foods they want to make or which lessons are their favorites. The lessons are taught by kids for kids who are eager to connect with food and be creative. The online classes are also an incredible way to make a fun creative playdate, birthday party or after-school activity.” – Chef Maggie
